Menpō: the samurai’s second face

This second post from my latest project "The Legend of Momiji" showcases the complete creation process of a menpō samurai mask, from initial concept art to final high-quality renders.

👺The design features bold, traditional shapes crafted from blue-painted wood, accented with gold details and an expressive orange tongue.

🪵Included are the ZBrush base sculpt, the clean, optimized wireframe model, and the final textured version, which combines painted wood grain, metallic highlights, and subtle wear for authenticity.

🎎Each stage highlights the balance between historical inspiration and dramatic visual storytelling.
